Family Update.

Joan did a good job of letting people know what happened this past weekend, and I’m really thankful for everyone who prayed for our mom and thankful to God for watching over her.

Greg and I had already been on the road all day and people had been trying to get a hold of us for a while. We had just gotten back to London and had sat down to watch a movie and unwind when I got the call from Pauline that mom had been taken to the hospital. I dont remember too much about what she said or how she said it because it was like my world exploded when I heard the words ‘heart attack’ and ‘stroke’. For those of you who read my blog, you’ll see below that I just attended the funeral of a man who’s life ended because of a stroke. I dont consider myself a dramatic person, but I do remember saying "I’m on my way!" and hanging up the phone, before crumpling down into immediate tears and prayer while Greg got us situated and out the door.  I dont know what I would have done without him.

We were in Hamilton before the call came through that it may not have been either but that they were running tests to see what happened. By the time we hit Niagara Falls we got the call that mom was being discharged and that we should just go straight to the house to meet them. Although these reports were good news, I just couldnt be okay until I put my arms around my mother again and saw for myself that she was still here.  When dad brought her into the house I got my chance, and when she held me back it was enough to lift the numbness I had felt since that first phone call.

I have seen Mom every day since then, and with each day she seems to be getting better. Tests are still being run and doctors are still being visited but we’re really finding comfort in all the prayers that are being said for her and for us. I sincerely thank you.
