No Makeup?!?

This morning I took product to the Loblaw head office for the vendors show.  Since I was up at 5am I didnt bother with the whole hair and makeup thing – my goal was to get in, unpack the product and get home… simple.  Throwing on a tshirt and outdoor pants I ran my fingers through my hair, brushed my teeth, poured a coffee and headed out.

Once there, I unpacked the first of 4 boxes from the van, brought it inside and threw a group of men a friendly smile.  I was immediately followed outdoors by some very thoughtful men who walked over to the van and admist, "let me get those for you mam" and, "oh I can carry that for you" ‘s I sort of stood there blushing as they carried my stuff into the lobby.  Even more embarrassing were the 2 guys left standing there after the other 3 had walked away who asked me if I had any more stuff they could carry.

Once inside, I was horrified to find 2 more helpful men loading my cases onto a trolly to be wheeled into the staging area.  I was sort of getting antsy at that point… these people are our competitors afterall and I was kind of embarrassed to be fussed over so openly.

Anyway – I got through it.   But then later today I was at the grocery store and I turned around to catch a guy doing the heavy on me – the BIG heavy.  It was cute at first but 2 seconds later I decided to give him a frosty glare until he looked away.  That helped me feel better and more like myself so I decided to look for more men I could glare at.

What really gets me though isnt that I was checked out or fussed over today, that in itself is kind of nice and I’m not trying to complain. What gets me is that this all happened while I was makeup-less and dressed in frumpy coffee stained clothing.  On the way home from the grocery store it occurred to me that I might have been mistaken my whole life; maybe I’m not a pasty little wasteling without makeup and hairspray.  Maybe I’m one of those natural beautys and just never realized it!  MAYBE – I wouldnt EVER have to wear makeup again!….

Of course, once I got home I took a quick look in the mirror at my appearance and realized that the male species is just completely wacked.

  1. Well… I suppose we COULD start a boy haters club but um… I still kind of like them – they’re just a little stupid, thats all 😀  And not ALL of them are stupid… some of them are kind of cute, and brilliant, and sexy… but dense 😛  Soooooooo completely dense….  <sigh> and sexy, did I mention sexy…? Ugh…
